I Am Still Here

I'm working on 11 Shepherd's Bush Christmas Stockings; I've been working on them non-stop in the evenings for about three months and I am on the seventh one.  I'm making them for my nieces and nephews children and I want them all finished by 12/1/09.  I haven't sewn them together but the ones I have finished are all stitched with the charms in place...I am so sick and tired of stitching on that awful scratchy 18 count linen I could scream and there are so many new things calling me to be stitched.  BUT, I can't give to some and not the others....soooo I'll keep on stitching!

I'm still around

I have been working on the same sampler all this time and it seems there is no end in sight. I am about 75% finished with Marie Lucee 1920 from the Muriel Brunet book. I love the sampler, love the fabric and floss (VCSilk) but I am growing weary of working on the same piece. I did take a short break and finish the small pincusion from Blackbird Designs website but I'm back at the sampler again.

My daughter and granddaughter are here this week from Ohio so I won't get much done on it but I know if I start something else it will never get finished. I will try to take a picture to post here.

I will leave you with this darling smiling face until next time!

Another Finish - Little House Needleworks

This is my version of Little House Needleworks - The Traveling Stitcher. While I loved their version I can't afford nor could I find their purse/folder to put my needlework on and since I decided to make it myself I decided to change it to blue. I am pretty satisfied with it - it's certainly not perfect but it's for me!
The second picture shows the fabric and it's true color...I don't know why my pictures get so dark - they were taken at the same time and one is light and one is dark???? I used 32 ct confederate grey linen and Vikki Clayton silk fibers.

I get to see my daughter and her family late tomorrow night and over the weekend. My youngest daughter won a trip to see Britney Spears in Las Vegas and she is taking my oldest daughter with her! BUT my granddaughter is staying here for the weekend!

Blackbird Designs Freebie Sampler Drawing

Here is my version of the Freebie from Blackbird Designs....I used 36 ct Lt. Expresso fabric, Vikki Clayton silks, and my Mother's name and birthdate. I am really happy with this little sampler, although not with my awful picture...sorry it's so dark. Thanks for looking!

Another Finish - For My Granddaughter

I don't usually stitch cutesy things...I'm more of a primitive girl myself! But I'm going to stitch two more of these "cutesy" things for my granddaughter's room as soon as I get the charts. Please excuse the picture....I thought by putting it on my glasstop table outside I'd get more light but all I got was the table legs showing through! Oh well, maybe next time.

Another Blackbird Designs Pincushion

I really like all the smalls patterns they have in their latest books! This one is again on mystery fabric (36 ct) - I have a drawer full of mystery fabric - and I used VC silks.

I really do have several things started that aren't Blackbird Designs...but then again I have several other Blackbird Designs started too. I am working on a small picture for my granddaughter's room that is Country Cottage Needlework - Princess Parade.

Blackbird Designs...a finish!

This is my latest finish - I love Blackbird designs and when I saw this after the Nashville Show I had to have it! I converted (and also changed) to Vikki Clayton silks and love the result! I also had a hard time finding the ground walnut shells for filling but am really pleased with the weight they add to the pincushion.

Thanks for looking!

Girls' Weekend Out

I am going to Pittsburgh and then on to Ohio to visit my daughter, her husband and my wonderful granddaughter tomorrow. My oldest DD gave my youngest DD tickets to see Britney Spears in Pittsburgh for Christmas last year and tomorrow is the day! Gramma has to go along to watch my darling granddaughter while they go to the concert - then on Saturday we are all going back to Ohio to my oldest DD's home for the weekend. It will be a quick trip but worth the long drive. No stitching pictures but soon...but I will leave you with a pic of my DGD!

My First Post!

This is exciting...now all I have to do is figure out how to add pictures! I am a long-time stitcher - more than 30 years who only recently discovered the wonderful community on the internet for stitchers. I have learned more in the last year from Vikki Clayton's forums than in the previous 30 years. I have NO LNS so I order most of my supplies/stash from the internet....occasionally make a two hour trip to the closest shop only to be disappointed because they have nothing in the shop that they have on display so I wind up ordering it from the internet anyway!
